The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk

Our Montreal trip's fashion bit culminated at the Museum of Fine Arts where Jean Paul Gaultier's life's work was being shown: The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk. A talking mannequin of "L'enfant terrible of fashion" greeted show goers and explained the thinking behind what they were about to see. Amongst other things he revealed that his main sources of inspiration were virgins and mermaids.

"Biology class would have been so much better if @JPGaultier taught it." I exclaimed on Twitter after seeing the exhibit. Throughout the entire show JPG took the audience on a journey of innocence and provocativeness by way of the human body. His rebellious side was evident and sprinkled with an acute attention to detail and a gentle touch of femininity. This exhibit allowed us to bathe in the mind of the artist.

The exhibit which will be shown through October 2nd was definitely one of the highlights of this trip.

Just a thought...

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in other; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."
