Stuck in the hurricane!

Hello my beauties,
What a weekend this has been. As you already know, we left for Upstate New York on Friday morning. All was well with the world until Irene came by for a visit and stranded us with no way to communicate for 3 days. Not only could we not get in touch with anyone - phone, Facebook, email, Twitter, etc - we also had no way to get home because of flooding and debrie on the roads.
Thank God, the effects of Irene were not that substancial where we were. Luckily for us our cabin was on the top of a mountain which provided us with the lesser effects of the storm. After the storm on Sunday we enjoyed 2 beautiful days of sunshine Monday and Tuesday. We were finally able to come home yesterday afternoon. I missed you all terribly and not being able to connect with you was torturous! I claim back my #FreedomOfTweet and I am #FreeToFacebook.
Love,
Kelie XoxO

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk

Our Montreal trip's fashion bit culminated at the Museum of Fine Arts where Jean Paul Gaultier's life's work was being shown: The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk. A talking mannequin of "L'enfant terrible of fashion" greeted show goers and explained the thinking behind what they were about to see. Amongst other things he revealed that his main sources of inspiration were virgins and mermaids.

"Biology class would have been so much better if @JPGaultier taught it." I exclaimed on Twitter after seeing the exhibit. Throughout the entire show JPG took the audience on a journey of innocence and provocativeness by way of the human body. His rebellious side was evident and sprinkled with an acute attention to detail and a gentle touch of femininity. This exhibit allowed us to bathe in the mind of the artist.

The exhibit which will be shown through October 2nd was definitely one of the highlights of this trip.

Favorite quotes series...

I love this quote. I have a notebook with it on the cover.

It says:

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined.

Dagger Pendant in Gold by Belle Noel, $63.
Dagger Pendant in Gold
WHY WE LOVE IT!
The first thing that pooped into our mind when we saw this pendant is: oh yes! Now you know, if anything provokes a reaction like this when you first lay eyes on it then it's a keeper. If you get excited from looking at this pendant in a plain picture like this one imagine what people will think when they see it on your beautiful self! Enough said. Actually let us add that Kim Kardashian had something to do with it! Read more here.

FWAC a la French: When it rains, it pours!

Bonjour,
The past couple of days have been quite gloomy. Montreal's weather is inconsistent in the summer time. One day can be beautifully warm and the next rainy and chilly. It actually hailed yesterday! Luckily I packed a few jackets and a cardigan for this trip.
If you find yourself in a similar situation while visiting Montreal don't think that your vacation is ruined. Au contraire, Montreal has plenty of indoor entertainment for you to choose from starting with its underground city located downtown. Shopping, restaurants, cinemas, manicurists, banks, ... you name it they have it and it's all underground. The underground city connects 5 major shopping centers: Place des Cathedrales, Complexe Les Ailes, Eaton Center, Place Montreal Trust and Les Cours Mont-Royal. It also joins 4 downtown subway stations: McGill, Peel, Bonaventure, Place Ville-Marie and major office buildings.
Montreal also offers a plethora of museums and galleries where you can find shelter and stimulate your mind. Currently the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal is hosting a Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibit which we cannot wait to see.
If you are looking for us, you know where to find us: down under!
Love,

FWAC a la French: Fashion and Opera Fashion Show Photos!

Bonjour,
The ambiance at the Fashion and Design Festival of Montreal was unparalleled. The Fashion and Opera Fashion Show had to have been one of the best shows in the entire festival. It offered an organic mix between music, media and impeccable craftsmanship. As the models walked to and fro, the opera singers enchanted the crowds with highs and lows that were strong enough to resonate in the soul. Brilliant!
