R.I.P. Brittany Murphy

I can't believe it. All that comes to mind is: what causes a young woman to have a heart attack?
Life is so precious and unpredictable. This tragedy reminds us of that. Only God knows how much time is awarded to each of us. So before your time is up, love truly and live boldly. Rest in peace Brittany Murphy.

The Sartoriatlist might get his own TV show, but he doesn't want to star in it.

Scott Schuman is not a spotlight-hungry blogger. Au contraire, his work may have helped start the personal-style craze with his street-style blog The Sartorialist, but he has always fixated on the style of others, rather than himself. One might argue that his blog is successful because it distills style according to his personal tastes, and therefore is all about him. Quandary: Should I dress like I'm homeless today? Solution: The Sartorialist is into it! Quandary: Should I iron my jeans? The Sartorialist enjoys a crisp crease in a denim pant leg. Schumann doesn't see it this way. And that is why, as he negotiates for his own TV show and clothing line, he's keen to make sure he's not the focal point, directly. He told the Pedestrian at an event he attended to promote his book: ... Continue reading this story on nymag. Love, Kelie.

Sneakers at a wedding? Everybody freak out!

I have to apologize for going under the radar for a couple of days. I was on heavy bridesmaid duty this weekend. One of my BFFs got hitched and needed my undivided attention for 3 days of celebration that felt more like a week. I am still recovering from it. Thursday was the rehearsal dinner, Friday the bachelorette party extravaganza and Saturday the wedding followed by a dinner for family and close friends.
This wedding was by far the most laid back and comfortable wedding I have ever been a part of. I woke up on Saturday morning, had complimentary breakfast at the hotel, took a shower, washed my hair, styled it, applied my make up, put on my jeans and walked over to the church where my wisteria dress and shoes were waiting for me. Since the hotel where we (the bride and the bridesmaids) were staying was only two blocs from the church, there was no need to rush or worry about traffic or MTA service changes.
Once I arrived at the church, I put on my dress and finishing touches and voila; I and the other girls were ready. The entire "female" bridal party was dressed and ready to go by 1pm. Did I mention that the wedding was at 2pm? How amazing is that? But this is not the best part. Believe it or not, the entire wedding party from the ring bearer to the pastor were sporting none other then Converse sneakers. I am a die hard heel person but my love for kicks has reached a new height since Saturday. At first, I was not warm to the idea. Of course I didn't let the bride know to what extend I cringed at the very thought of walking down the aisle in flats. I mean, who wears an evening gown with flats? At least give me a kitty heel! There is something about the extra 3 to 4 inches that just feels right when all eyes are on you. Well I had to do without the extra inches this time around. And surprisingly enough, not only was it extremely comfortable but it looked so cute.
The bride and groom had our kicks personalized which was a really nice touch! I recommend it to anyone who can think outside the Christian Louboutin box.
Love, Kelie.
PS: I caught the bouquet so wait and see what I'm going to do when I get hitched next year! ;) The only thing missing is a groom! Lol...

MOvember looks we loved!

Mrs. O is looking better then ever these days. Here are some of her best November looks. On November 5th, at the National Science Bowl at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC, Michelle wore this black and white jacket by Moschino. Photo: Getty Images. On November 18th, Michelle opted for a J. Crew ruffled blouse to visit Hollin Meadows Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia. Photo: Getty Images. This Moschino dress is to die for. Mrs. O-so-chic was all smiles at the presentation of Robert F. Kennedy human rights award to Malangu at the White House in Washington, DC on November 23rd. Quite frankly we would be all smiles too if we were wearing this dress , no matter what! Photo: AP. And for the finale! On November 24th, the first couple hosted the first official State Dinner. Michelle looked radiant in a silver sequined gown (the sequins were strategically placed) by Naeem Khan. Photo: Getty Images. Love, Kelie.

Kick it!

If you live in New York, you know all about street walking. When you first move out here it's like being on an instant diet that actually works. Personally I lost at least 10 pounds on what we'll call: the "street walker" diet. On the flip side however walking this much is terrible for your heels! I am and will always be a die hard supporter of the high heel no matter how much walking I have to do. But this season a more casual kind of footwear caught my attention. The kick game is playing hard and everyone is tuning in.

We are loving the metallic finish, retro lines and hardware used on these fun styles. Everyone should consider adding at least one pair to their staples. There is a sneaker out there for every budget! So kick back, relax and enjoy the walk.

Just because we love it...and own it! Boot edition.

Ebbe cutout booties by BCBGMAXAZRIA, $275. Purchase here. Ok, let me explain. Yes, you read properly. I simply could not help myself. I went on a little shopping spree last weekend and bought these sky high BCBGMAXAZRIA booties! I know the economy is at a low but how will it ever recover if we don't give it a little push? Somehow this last statement helps dissipate all of my guilt. :) My wish list was long: chain purse, satchel, red wool coat, black skinny jeans, blue skinny jeans (the skinnier the better), boyfriend distressed jeans, button-down shirts, pearls, aviator shades, and on the very top of that list, boots - all kinds of boots: flat knee-high boots, rain boots, high heel boots, over-the-knee boots and of course booties. My spirits were high and so was the tab. But who cares? My Ebbe cutout booties were totally worth it! I did my part for the economy, will you do yours?
Love, Kelie
P.S.: I might let you in on some other great buys! Who knows? This might inspire you to give the economy a boost with a shopping spree of your own!

Love, Kelie. P.S.: We're so jealous of purple Diary who collaborated with our idol, Karl Lagerfeld on the project! :) Good jealousy, of course.

Just a thought...
