The pretty face attended college in Washington, DC before moving to New York where she interned for Rocawear when it was still in its infancy. At Rocawear she had the opportunity to lend her skills to every department. You name it, she did it. From intern to director, Roy followed the road less travelled : "My biggest influences are strong, creative women that chart their own path, lead their own lives and drive the course of history."
Speaking of strong women, in 2007 the mother/ entrepreneur was invited to be a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show. This affirmed her as an established player in the fashion biz. Her continued design prowess lead her to create a joint venture with Jones Apparel Group in 2008. This allowed her to expand RR's wholesale business and create a diffusion line Rachel Rachel Roy. With clients such as Michelle Obama, Iman, Kate Hudson, Eva Mendes and Sharon Stone, Roy is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
