Day 2: #12daysofGIVING

When we think about hunger countries like Somalia, India and Ethiopia come to mind. But hunger and malnutrition prey on everyone even Americans. FEED is a nonprofit organization that creates products that help feed the world. It was founded by Lauren Bush in 2006 and has provided over 66 million school meals to children all around the world, 46,000 nutrition supplements and has reached over 13,000 American children. And the numbers keep rising.

What FEED is doing is much more than feeding kids. They are allowing children to be children again. They are helping them focus in school, giving them the opportunity to work their way out of the poverty they were born in. They are restoring hope and investing in the betterment of the communities they serve.

WHY BUY PRODUCTS THAT FEED?

- Hunger is No. 1 on the list of the World's Top 10 health risks*
- 1 in 7 people go to bed hungry every night*
- Hunger and malnutrition kill more people than aids, malaria, and tuberculosis combined*
- 65% of the world's hungry live in only 7 countries around the world*
- Because you can!

Each FEED Guatemala Bag will provide 15 school meals through the UN World Food Programme (WFP). The FEED Guatemala Bag is handmade in Guatemala by Nest, a nonprofit organization that empowers artist and artisans around the world, using traditional Ikat fabrics. This could be the perfect gift for your socially and fashionably conscious best girlfriend. It is environmentally friendly and will make a great carryall bag for strolling around on the weekends.

Just because we love it!

Brittania Punk leather box clutch by Alexander McQueen, $1,495 Net-a-Porter.
Alexander McQueen
Why we love it?
Seeing the Savage Beauty exhibit reaffirmed our love for Alexander McQueen's work. The Metropolitan Museum of Arts opened a window into the soul of the tortured artist. Like in the exhibit this clutch puts on display the opposition between light and darkness, good and evil, softness and hardness with McQueen's genius know-how. The gold accents make this clutch extra chic and can easily dress up any outfit. We highly recommend everyone to see more of McQueen's work at the Met. It is pure magic!
PARALLEL UNIVERSE

REALITY CHECK!

Just because we love it!

The holidays are long gone. And now that all the gifts have been opened, it is time to get what you really want. No need to wait, hoping that your loved ones actually paid attention to your wish list. Especially the section that said: NO PLAID FLANNEL SHIRT!!! I have not yet heard of a person with an actual do-not-wish-list but you might want to consider it for next year. Just so there is no misunderstanding, allow me to add a disclaimer to this post: The items featured here do not represent the gifts I wish I would have received for Christmas. They are merely items that I find appealing and wish to share with the world. My family and friends know me well and are very good at selecting gifts for me. And for this I love them dearly. End of disclaimer. Varina glam ballet flat by Salvatore Ferragamo. $490 This is the perfect ballet flats for a dressy night out. I love heels but this little number is just as chic!
Flip Mino camcorder. $200
This camcorder was designed by Courtney Cox and David Arquette and five percent of its proceeds go to Feeding America, a network of food banks.
Miss Vara poncho hobo by Salvatore Ferragamo. $1, 590 This is the perfect size bag for everyday strolling around town in style. We love the gathered detail and gold hardware. Tres fab!
Cotton tank top by Guess. $26
The price is not the only good thing about this item. In fact, the proceeds benefit Invisible Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the war in Uganda, Africa. This makes this item doubly lovable. Tweed and patent leather clutch with acrylic stones by Marc Jacobs. $995 The marriage of textures found on this clutch brings added interest and dimension to any outfit. Perfect for brunch and dinner with the girls.
Love, Kelie
P.S.: Before I go, here's an idea: in the weeks leading up to the holidays try talking about the things you need and want. Not forcefully but casually, slipping them into conversations. Emphasize on how happy they would make you but that for the moment you unfortunately can't afford them and see what happens. It is definitely worth the try!

Donatella Versace for charity!

You might not know this but, Donatella Versace as fabulous as she may be is also an absolute sweetheart. She has a real heart of gold. This summer, she launched the Art Unites program at the Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan. But that's not all. She also partnered with Starlight Children's foundation to create her next IT bag. In fact, several children from the foundation had the chance to try their hand at handbag print design. Their mandate was to draw pictures on the theme of friendship.
Each of their illustrations will then be made into a Versace tote. Each tote will be sold for $250 with all the proceeds from the sales going to Starlight Children's Foundation who caters to sick children in America and to Jet Li One Foundation, which helps 2008 earthquake victims in China's Sichuan province.
When can you get one, you ask?
Well, the totes are now available online exclusively through Gilt Groupe. And, if you make your purchase by December 1st, you will receive %20 discount at any Versace boutique in the U.S. Now that's really sweet!
Love, Kelie

Just a thought...

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in other; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."

- Audrey Hepburn
