Before I die...

Today, I was inspired to record my dreams, fantasies and desires in a bucket list. But what is a bucket list, you ask? Watch this!
Like in the movie, your bucket list is an account of the things you want to do before you die. They can pertain to your career, personal life, hobbies... whatever. The sky is the limit. So if you choose to make a list of your own be creative and don't hold back. As for me, there are so many things I would like to do Before I die... such as:

1. Go to Fiji
2. Host a telethon
3. Skydive
4. Plant a tree
5. Meet Oprah

This is only the beginning. I invite you to make big plans, write them down and make them happen.

I raise my glass to you living your best life!

XO,

Kelie

La Petite Fête Event

"Move from wanting to be successful to wanting to be significant!", Marie said as the guests pondered. The society we live in today doesn't challenge us to make a difference in the world. It pulls us in to focus on ourselves, our goals, dreams, careers, vacations, etc. All the while robbing us of the opportunity to make a difference and going from being successful to being significant.

Last night, Fashion With A Conscience in partnership with Agape Events raised awareness and funds for an amazing organization called Community2Community. C2C is a non-profit service organization that supports international communities toward self-sufficiency and economic stability. They are currently working in 3 Haitian communities. Now, this is a vision we can all get behind.

On January 12, 2010 Haiti was hit with a devastating earthquake which killed 300,000 in mere seconds. Many people were horrified and wanted to take action but just didn't know what to do. Maybe you were one of these people. I know I was. After a few days, one of Helen Keller's famous quotes came to life in the midst of the chaos:

"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do."

And the "God Save Haiti" campaign was born. As a designer, I knew I could get involved and use my talents to lend a helping hand. I started raising funds by selling these exclusive GSH t-shirts and they sold like hot cakes. Yummy!

100% of the proceeds go to Haiti

The sale was so successful that I decided to find one organization to support and partner with to see Haiti fully restored and autonomous. I believe in C2C's vision and that is why we had the event last night. It took place in a cute space in midtown Manhattan and was hosted by two precious ladies: Bethani Mentor and Mia Bradford. They caught the vision at a previous event and could not help but get involved. There was food, drinks, music and beautiful people.

A lot was said last night but the message was clear: You can do something. Figure out what it is and do it!

The guests were challenged to think about their choices, outlook on life and the meaning of it all. In turn, I would like to challenge you to think outside the box and see your life as a burning flame. What will your legacy be? When it is all said and done, aside from piles of stuff, what will you leave behind?

Personally, I don't want to be consumed by society but want to start a fire that will burn for generations to come. #iAMaFIREstarter. You?

iDream!

One of my favorite notebooks has this Thoreau quote on the cover: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined." The first thing that comes to mind when I read this quote is: beautiful! I then start feeling warm and fuzzy at the thought of living my best life and loving it. Soon after however the fuzziness turns into a hint of anxiousness because the What is often easier to determine than the How. How do you live the life you've imagined? Well, you must approach pursuing your dreams the same way you would eating an elephant.

What? Eating an elephant!

How? One bite at a time!

Bon appetit!

Love,

Kelie XOxo

iThink!

Beautiful days like today motivate me to write...

As I was shopping on the Upper West Side with Beauty With A Conscience's new editor - look out for the best beauty advice in town ladies - I was reminded of how fortunate we are to live in America. Think about it! Millions of people live on less than $2 a day, that's not even enough for my morning latte or to get on the train, 30, 000 children died from the recent famine in Somalia and the number keeps on rising and it seems like a new natural disaster comes in to claim lives every other month. Think about it!

As I am shopping on the Upper West Side, I am reminded to count my blessings! Join me in making this a #ThankfulTuesday.

Love,

Kelie XOxo
