As a child, Jake Gyllenhaal's heartthrob eyes weren't as functional as he might have wished. "I've had really poor vision since I was a little kid." This is the case for many American children and can lead to serious issues especially when the problem remains undetected. Poor vision can lead to failure in school for the kids who are not able to afford glasses. "Everytime my prescription changed, we gave my old glasses to New Eyes." said Gyllenhall. His childhood experience led him to champion this cause. New Eyes is a non-profit organization that sends donated prescription glasses to underdeveloped countries. It also gives vouchers for a free check up and free glasses to people in need in the United States. Jake is a perfect example of influence used for the greater good of humanity.
